Sophronia Jones was the daughter of
John Milum Jones
and
Eloah Angeline Tackitt,
born abt. 1853 in Johnson County, Arkansas. She was traveling with her
parents on "The Jones Train" segment of the "Poteet-Tackitt-Jones" Trains.
She and her parents died in the 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre in Utah.
Her younger brother, Felix Marion Jones, survived the Massacre. Not all of
the children under the age of 6 were spared, she was 4 years old when she
died.

HISTORY AS THE MOUNTAIN MEADOWS MASSACRE
(Sophronia Jone's actual name does not appear on the 1990 Monument, she
appears under her mother's name as "and Daughter".)

Massacre that appear here are those who we have personally researched
and verified as actual victims. In some cases this list will differ
from the names that were inscribed on the 1990 Monument on Dan Sill
Hill.
