                                 THE FANCHER CHILDREN

               *VICTIMS OF THE 1857 MOUNTAIN  MEADOWS MASSACRE*

HAMPTON FANCHER was the oldest son of Captain Alexander and Elizabeth (Ingram) Fancher, born 1838 - 1839 in Illinois. He may have worked as a drover for his father's large herd. He, along with his parents, and 6 of his younger siblings, were killed on 11 September 1857 in the Mountain Meadows Massacre. He was 19 years old when he died.

WILLIAM FANCHER was the second son of Captain Alexander and Elizabeth (Ingram) Fancher, born 1840-1841 in Illinois. He may have worked as a drover for his father's large herd.    WILLIAM FANCHER, 17

MARY FANCHER was the oldest daughter of Captain Alexander and Elizabeth (Ingram) Fancher, born 1841 - 1843 in Missouri. She, her parents, and 6 of her siblings died in the 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre in Utah territory. She was 15 years old when she died.

THOMAS FANCHER was the third son of Captain Alexander and Elizabeth (Ingram) Fancher, born 1843 - 1844 in Missouri. He, his parents, and 6 of his siblings died in the 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre in Utah Territory. He was 14 years old when he died.

MARTHA FANCHER
was the second daughter of Captain Alexander and Elizabeth (Ingram) Fancher, born 1846 - 1847, probably in Carroll County, Arkansas. She, her parents, and 6 of her siblings, were killed in the 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre in Utah Territory. Martha was 10 years old when she died.

SARAH G. FANCHER was one of the twin daughters of Captain Alexander and Elizabeth (Ingram) Fancher, born 1848 - 1849, probably in Carroll County, Arkansas. She, her parents, her twin sister Margaret A., and 5 of her other siblings, died in the 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre in Utah Territory. Sarah G. Fancher was 8 years old when she died.

 * This is an error on the Monument, Margaret was 8 years old when she died.

Please note that the names of the victims of the 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre that appear here are those who we have personally researched and verified as actual victims. In some cases this list will differ from the names that were inscribed on the 1990 Monument on Dan Sill Hill.
